6-4-3 DP Baseball celebrated its 2022-2023 season in August with its annual awards ceremony held at Pope High School. The event celebrated the accomplishments of the 2023 6-4-3 academy teams and players with individual, team and special awards presented to many of the organization’s student-athletes. The 6-4-3 Foundation also announced its annual Kelly and Mike Price Scholarship award at the ceremony. The 6-4-3 Foundation, the charitable arm of 6-4-3 DP Athletics, was launched in 2013 and continues to do impactful work in the local community.
This year marked the 9th year that the Kelly and Mike Price Scholarship was awarded to a graduating 6-4-3 student-athlete embarking on his college journey. The foundation received applications from three qualified and deserving young men. The 2023 recipient of the Kelly and Mike Price Scholarship award was Brandon Trichell, now a freshman student-athlete at Rhodes College.
Brandon graduated from Lassiter High School in the spring. While at Lassiter, he was an honor student maintaining a better than 4.3 GPA while also being a multi-sport athlete and mentor to his peers through his involvement in several clubs. Outside of school, Brandon was active in his church and worked part-time at several jobs when he wasn’t playing baseball. On the baseball field, Brandon earned several honors through the 6-4-3 organization as well as All Region 2nd Team, Academic Team and Georgia Dugout Club Senior All-State Team member – all in 2023. In his application, Brandon talked about what dedication to sports has meant to him, the importance of his relationship with his teammates, and what being a true teammate means. He excelled in the classroom taking a tough course load while balancing obligations to his teams and his church. He worked through an injury that left him on the bench for his junior baseball season. Each aspect of his life –the drive, the discipline, the adversity— pushed him towards his goal of playing college baseball. “Being recognized by 6-4-3 and its foundation afforded Brandon an opportunity to go to a school that is offering him a great education and a chance to continue playing baseball while helping to ease the financial burden to attend that school. 6-4-3 has been an important part of Brandon’s baseball career since he was 8 years old and we couldn’t be more grateful,” said Brandon’s mother MK Trichell. The 6-4-3 Foundation and staff of 6-4-3 baseball congratulate Brandon for this well-deserved recognition!
