(Marietta, GA) The 6-4-3 Foundation has awarded $20,000 in grants to three Atlanta area organizations and a fourth in Hurricane Helene ravaged North Carolina. “The 2024 year was a very good one for The 6-4-3 Foundation and its staff.  Great donor support, improved operations, and positive momentum drove the foundation to a position where it could direct year-end impact grants. With our focus on growing measurable impact helping children and families in need, it is a privilege to support the Breakthru House, L.E.A.D., The Dave Krache Foundation, and Owen Babe Ruth and their respective missions in 2024,” said board chair David Carr.

As part of The 6-4-3 Foundation’s mission to enhance the lives of children and families, the Board of Directors chose Breakthru House in Decatur, Georgia, to receive a $2,000 gift. Breakthru House transforms the lives of women struggling with drug and alcohol addiction and their children by providing a long-term residential program to empower them to achieve physical, emotional, and spiritual healing through recovery. The Breakthru House will use the grant to support family education weekends, enrichment and educational services that are part of their therapeutic programming. According to Executive Director BreNita Jackson, the number one reason moms don’t seek treatment for addiction is not having care for their children.

“We are sincerely grateful for your thoughtfulness towards Breakthru House, said Jackson. “The generosity from foundations such The 6-4-3 Foundation are the pillar of support to fulfilling our mission which is to provide gender specific comprehensive treatment to women and their children who present with the co-occurring disorders of substance use disorder, mental illness, poverty, homelessness, and trauma.”

Celebrating 56 years with 30 of those in its current Decatur neighborhood, Breakthru House is undergoing an expansion that will double the organization’s capacity. Currently, the facility houses 25 women, some of whom have children, undergoing treatment. Breakthru House’s program serves women once they are medically stable by providing individual and group therapy to treat mental health and its role in addiction as well as focusing on preparing their residents for re-entry and employment. Over the nine months, the women spend about 25 hours a week in various types of treatment. One unique program component is a focus on nutrition and physical fitness.

“Breakthru House gives the women we serve space and time to heal. We help them rewrite their stories with healthy and joyful endings. Breakthru House is a place of healing and hope,” said Jackson.
