(Marietta, GA) The 6-4-3 Foundation has awarded $20,000 in grants to three Atlanta area organizations and a fourth in Hurricane Helene ravaged North Carolina. “The 2024 year was a very good one for The 6-4-3 Foundation and its staff.  Great donor support, improved operations, and positive momentum drove the foundation to a position where it could direct year-end impact grants. With our focus on growing measurable impact helping children and families in need, it is a privilege to support the Breakthru House, L.E.A.D., The Dave Krache Foundation, and Owen Babe Ruth and their respective missions in 2024,” said board chair David Carr.

The foundation’s Board of Directors has once again chosen The Dave Krache Foundation (DKF) in Marietta as a grant recipient. DKF provides scholarships for local youth in need to participate in sports and will use these funds to help cover costs associated with girls’ sports programs. This marks the fourth time The 6-4-3 Foundation has awarded funding to DKF.

Now in its 13th year, The Dave Krache Foundation has helped more than 1,800 young athletes, along with dozens of rec leagues and school teams, throughout Cobb County and metro Atlanta. Named after a local father whose love of sports and generosity left a lasting impact, the foundation honors Dave Krache, who died unexpectedly at age 57. Inspired by his passion and selflessness, his family sought a meaningful way to continue his legacy. “My Dad was always looking for a way to improve the lives of others in this community,” said Allison Krache Giddens, Executive Director. “We know he’d be thrilled to help so many kids play sports just like he did.”

Providing the opportunity to participate in sports is also important to Board Chair Donna Krache. “We hear from parents all the time who tell us that their kids are better students – and better kids – when they’re playing the sports they love. We love to hear that the Foundation is making a difference in their lives,” she said. DKF’s goal is to “help local kids play in their community league sports in and around metro Atlanta – even if his or her family is not in a financial position to afford the application or park fee.”

The benefits of youth sports are countless. Young athletes develop teamwork and leadership skills while also improving their academic performance. Sports also serve as a valuable outlet for both mental and physical well-being. As the cost of youth sports continues to rise, The Dave Krache Foundation hopes to see that all local kids in need are able to play the sport they love and reap those benefits associated with participation.
