On August 9 and 23, one hundred baseball players from 6-4-3 DP Baseball in Marietta, Georgia, came together in service as part of The 6-4-3 Foundation’s annual Day of Service. The players—ages 8 to 18—volunteered both in the community and at their baseball home, Aviation Sports Complex. Many brought along siblings and parents, bringing total participation to nearly 200 people.

About 70 teen players went into the community, where they:

  • Assisted with clean up and organization at the Marietta Police Athletic League facility

  • Sorted donations at Simple Needs GA’s two warehouses

  • Facilitated games and activities during the alumni reunion at Marietta City Schools’ Emily Lembek Early Learning Center

Meanwhile, at Aviation Sports Complex, players and families worked side by side to:

  • Assemble 108 Smile Bags for Creating Connected Communities

  • Prepare 112 meal kits for The Tillman House

  • Sign birthday cards for the Yellow Rose–Strong Oak Society to brighten the days of elderly Cobb Countians

  • Write encouraging notes for Rally Foundation’s Rally Kids

The event also featured a used sports equipment drive. Participants cleaned and sorted several bins of gear for Let The Kids Play, which will distribute the equipment to young athletes without the resources to purchase their own. In addition, Marietta City Schools’ Student Life Center received two boxes of donated school supplies.

“After last year’s successful event, we were excited to see so many new and returning families and to engage new partners,” said Executive Director Mary Litman. “Creating a meaningful service experience for the players is an important way for us to engage the 6-4-3 family and make an impact in the community.”

The purpose of the Day of Service is twofold:

  1. To respond to real community needs while creating a culture of philanthropy within the 6-4-3 family.

  2. To give young athletes opportunities to serve others in ways that align with the foundation’s mission to enhance the lives of children and families through sports.

By using what unites the 6-4-3 family—a love of sports, teamwork, and camaraderie—The 6-4-3 Foundation continues to turn that passion into meaningful action for the community.

“The foundation’s Board of Directors and I are excited about the opportunities to engage with the community this event offers. It was heartwarming to hear the excitement our Day of Service creates within the 6-4-3 Family,” Litman added.
